Advanced Coverage Sensors
Eight cameras provide 360-degree visibility around the car within a 250-meter radius. Twelve ultrasonic sensors complement this vision system, enabling detection of hard and soft objects at nearly twice the distance and accuracy of the previous system. A forward-facing radar system with improved processing capabilities provides additional data about the surrounding environment on a redundant wavelength that can see through heavy rain, fog, dust and even beyond previous cars.
40 times more processing power
To make sense of all this data, a new on-board computer more than 40 times more powerful than the previous generation’s runs Tesla’s new neural network-based software for processing visual, sonar and radar signals. Altogether, this system allows a view of the world that a single driver cannot have, as it sees in every direction simultaneously and on wavelengths beyond those of human senses.
Autopilot
The enhanced safety and convenient Autopilot features are designed to increase driving pleasure without the tedious aspects. Autopilot introduces new features and enhances existing ones to make your Tesla safer, smarter and more agile over time.
Autopilot allows the car to automatically steer, accelerate and brake in its own lane.
Current Autopilot features require active driver supervision and do not allow for autonomous vehicle driving.
Navigate on Autopilot
The Navigate on Autopilot feature suggests when to make a lane change to optimize your route and makes adjustments to avoid being behind slow cars or trucks. When activated, Navigate on Autopilot will also automatically guide you to interchanges and highway exits based on your selected destination.
